Mackinaw Dells 2 Whole Horse Hoof Care Trimming & Certification Program
The mission of this program is to provide a supportive network and educational foundation for hoof care professionals and horse owners based on a progressive approach to equine hoof care. A progressive approach bases its theory on observing the whole horse when caring for their feet. Whole Horse Hoof Care takes into consideration the hooves, the body, the teeth, the diet, and the spirit when we trim. We feel that the only opinion that really matters is that of the horse.
MD2 Practitioners have developed a solid training program based on non-invasive trimming methods and the latest research in hoof, body, dental, and mental health. Continuing education and professional growth is at the center of all we do for these magnificent beings. Exploration of new ideas and approaches with the collaboration of over 240 graduates throughout the U.S. and England.
MD2 Trimming Certification is achieved through completion of the following courses:
Exploring the Equine Hoof & Navigating the Hoof in Front of You
Beginner Trimming
Intermediate Trimming
Hoof Wear Patterns/Foot Fall Analysis
Hoof Protection
Advanced Glue On Skills Course
Advanced Trimming
Horse owners and other professionals that wish to be educated but don’t intend on becoming a full-time hoof trimmer may achieve their Non-Trimming Fellow Certificate. These graduates are not required to take the Hoof Protection or advanced Glue On courses, are allowed to audit the intermediate and advanced trimming classes, and are permitted to attend the annual Advanced Professionals Class.
Any class you take prior to certification may be repeated as many times as you would like for half price.
After you become certified, you can take any of the certification classes as a volunteer helper for free. Every class has a new emphasis depending on the students; therefore every class is a new learning opportunity, allowing graduates to continue their education and make new connections.
